Lucknow: Born in a simple family, 62-year old Rajnath Singh is known as farmer leader. Rajnath has started his political journey as district secretary of Jansangh in 1974.

Rajnath consolidated youth in party’s favour during his political stint as BJYM president and BJP chief.

Rajnath Singh as an Education Minister in Kalyan Singh government proved his administrative skills. In 2000, he had taken oath as the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister. During his stint as the UP CM, he had constituted social justice committee.

He served as Agriculture and Surface Transport Minister during Atal Bihar Vajpayee government at the Centre. He took charge of BJP president for the first time in 2005.

In 2009 Lok Sabha polls, he got elected from Ghaziabad constituency.
