Known for his fierce battle with Narendra Modi-led Gujarat government in the cases related to the Godhra train burning incident and its aftermath, Sinha died of lung cancer in Ahmedabad.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said Sinha was a huge inspiration for all of us and had fought several battles in his life.

“Mukul Sinha fought so many battles n was a huge inspiration for all of us. RIP,” Kejriwal tweeted on Monday.

Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh also took to Twitter to mourn the death of Sinha.

Digvijay said Sinha had fought against fascist and communal forces throughout his life.

“Sorry to hear about sad demise of Mukul Sinha who relentlessly fought against Fascist Communal Forces. Heartfelt condolences to his Family,” Digvijay tweeted.

Sinha had played an important role in the legal battle surrounding the four cases of fake encounters, involving Sadiq Jamal, Ishrat Jahan, Sohrabuddin Sheikh and Tulsi Prajapati.
