New Delhi: After the murder of liquor baron Ponty Chadha, question arises that who will inherit the legacy of his multi-crore business empire? It will be herculean task for the Chadha family to find a suitable successor keeping in mind the way Ponty built his business empire.

Ponty, the undisputed king of UP's liquor business, ventured into real estate, sugar manufacturing, entertainment and poultry taking his empire to whooping Rs 20,000 crores.

Ponty's 30-year-old son Manpreet Chadha alias Monty, a class IX dropout from Welham's Boys School in Dehradun, is the Joint Managing Director of the family's holding company Wave Inc, while Monty’s uncle Rajinder Chadha is Managing Director (MD).

Though Rajinder has experience and is being considered as the strongest claimant, Ponty had been pitching his son Monty for the chairman of the company for the past one year. Ponty was willing to make his son chairman of the Wave Inc. If Monty becomes the chairman of the company he will have to face lots of challenges.

The wholesale rights for liquor trade in Uttar Pradesh will expire after next four months. The process for its renewal is likely to start in December. It will be a tough task for Monty to get the license renewed, especially at a time when serious allegations have been made against Ponty and several raids were conducted at his residences and offices.
