Kolkata: Popular German author Martin Kampchen, who has translated several pieces of Rabindranath Tagore's literature, will get the Merck-Tagore award instituted on the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of the Nobel laureate poet.
Besides his literary activities, Kampchen has also been active in promoting cultural dialogue between India and Germany in several fields.
Kampchen also guides the development of two tribal villages near Santiniketan.
The award was sponsored by Merck, the pharmaceutical and chemical company of Germany and granted by the Goethe Institute Max Mueller Bhavan here, company sources said.
