Sonipat: As the auspicious festival Raksha Bandhan is drifting closer, the postal department here has decided to make special arrangements for easy and quick delivery of Rakhis to the brothers who are far away from their sisters.

As per the instructions of Ambala Postal Circle, General Post Office, Sonipat, along with sub-divisional post offices have decided to sell special envelopes with the Rakhi threads at a throwaway price of Rs 5.

Superintendent of General Post Office (GPO), OP Sharma said, “Apart from setting up different counters for sending Rakhis to their respective destinations, we would also provide special bags or envelopes to protect the Rakhis.” In order to assure proper delivery of Rakhis, its pattern of delivery will be different from the speed post and other postal services, he added.

He further said, “The envelopes carrying Rakhis would be sent to a postal centre at Rohtak by railway mail service and thereafter special arrangements would be made to send Rakhis to different destinations.”

He said the Postal Department has placed an order of more than 1000 such envelopes which would be sent to different sub-divisional post offices in the region. And if demand increases more orders would be placed, he added.
