"Condolences to one of the BJP's senior leaders Gopinath Pandurang Munde who died on June 3 in an accident. May his soul rest in peace,” is the message that was issued by Kancheepuram Town BJP unit in Tamil alongside the image of Chavan.

A scanned image of the billboard message went viral on Twitter with several people on the social networking website poking fun at this embarrassing blunder.

It is not for the first time that such a blunder has been committed as a billboard in Tamil language was placed in Coimbatore as a mark of respect for one of the world’s most respected leaders, Nelson Mandela, in December last year.

However, instead of using the anti-apartheid hero’s image, it carried a picture of Hollywood actor Morgan Freeman.

Freeman had played the role of Mandela in a movie ‘Invictus’ in 2009.

The Twitteratis at that time too did not leave any stone unturned in scoffing at the absurd slip-up.
