Jammu: A postmasters conference was held in this winter capital for the first time where awards were given to outstanding postmasters.

Minister for Medical Education, Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports R S Chib gave away awards to postmasters and employees who excelled in their duties.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister emphasised the need for restoring the past glory of the Post Office by bringing progressive improvements in the delivery of postal services.

He said though time has changed, the postal department still holds relevance in the society.

Chief Postmaster General, John Samuel, in his inaugural address, said the department has launched a campaign 'I love my post office' to bring post offices close to customers, and make them aware about all the products and services of the post office and the postal business.
