Srinagar: While the postmortem report established torture as the reason behind the custodial death of Najim Rashid, life in the Sopore area resumed back to normal on Thursday after four days of protest and tension.

It is noteworthy that Rashid, who was arrested for alleged links with terrorists and in connection with a murder case, died in custody setting Sopore on fire.

The doctors who conducted the autopsy confirmed Rashid’s body had several injury marks. However, the final confirmation about the injury marks would come only after the forensic tests.

Sopore SDM, Mohammad Ehsan Mir has registered the statements of the three doctors who conducted the autopsy and inspected Tarju police station where Najim was first brought after arrest.

He has also prepared the list of names of the police officers present at the Sopore post when Najim succumbed to his injuries.
