Tirunelveli: Amidst the safety concerns and protests against Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP), Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office V Narayanasamy said that unit one of the plant will begin power production by the end of this month. Narayanasamy is also hopeful of starting production at the second unit of the plant in next three months.

Addressing press conference on Sunday, Narayanasamy said that ensuring safety at the plant is on top of priority. The officials of Nuclear Regulatory Board conducted meeting to discuss safety issue on December 3. The board officials are currently reviewing the plant and production is likely to start by the end of month. There is no question of delay in production at the plant but we just want to ensure safety added the officials.

On being asked about the agitation by Peoples Movement Against Nuclear Energy, the board officials said that there is international interference in the issue.
