Chandigarh: In the wake of coming Assembly elections, People’s Party of Punjab (PPP) has formed an alliance with CPI, CPM and Akali Dal.

After a meeting with senior leaders of the four parties, PPP’s president Manpreet Singh Badal informed that former Chief Minister Surjit Singh Barnala has been appointed as the patron of the front while Manpreet Singh himself will be its Chairman.

“One member from each party has been  appointed as vice-president including SS Johal from PPP, comrade Nirmal Singh Dhaliwal from CPI, comrade  Charan Singh Virdi from CPM and Baldev Singh Mann and Gagandeep Singh Barnala from Akali Dal” he added. During the meeting, the alliance announced Manpreet Singh Badal as its Chief Ministerial candidate.

On this occasion, Manpreet Singh said the front will kickstart its ‘Izzat Sawal Yatra’ in Punjab on November 6 from Lala Lajpat Rai’s birth place Dhudike. During the ‘yatra’ the prominent leaders of the front will present real picture of the state and disclose that the leaders of the state have so far done nothing except tarnishing its image.

He appreciated that national level parties CPI, CPM and senior leaders like former Chief Minister Surjit Singh Barnala and AB Bardhan who have joined hands with PPP and decided to work for the welfare of the people.

“Today Punjab is facing corruption, unemployment, illiteracy and communal forces. To fight back these forces each and every Punjabi will have to come forward,” said Manpreet Singh Badal.  He further said that the front will have a membership of 20.
