Kolkata: Union Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Minister Parful Patel on Thursday called upon West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee but both declined to divulge details of the meeting.

"It was a courtesy call as we are alliance partners at the Centre and it is important to exchange views," Patel told reporters at the state secretariat after meeting Banerjee.

Asked if anything transpired on the political front at the meeting, Patel said, "We had talks on politics and NCP. As we are partners, we have discussed what is happening in state and country and exchanged our views."

Patel also praised Banerjee for all the good work she was executing in the state.

Banerjee said Patel was in the city to visit a relative. He had invited her for the 150th celebration of city based PSU Andrew Yule & Co.
