Rahul Gandhi will reach Suratgarh town of Sri Ganganagar district today where Congress leaders and workers will welcome him, State Congress Committee president Sachin Pilot said.

Later, he will leave for Hanumangarh where he will hold a 'padyatra' and interact with people there, he added.

On July 17, Gandhi will address a conference of party functionaries at Birla Auditorium here, Pilot said.

Elections to about 125 civic bodies are scheduled for next month and he would address all their incumbent representatives and former functionaries, he said.

Pilot said Rahul Gandhi will interact with locals in Khotawali villages in Pilibanga of Hanumangarh district today. After the interaction, he will begin a 'Padyatra' from there with the party members.

A state Congress spokesperson later said that Gandhi will today start his padayatra at 10 AM from Kenchian of Khotawali village on the Hanumangarh-Padampur road. The padayatra is likely to see Rahul Gandhi tour a stretch of 5-km, the spokesperson added.

Gandhi will reach Amarsinghwala village and interact with the villagers.

On July 17, the Congress vice president will address the party leaders, public representatives, district presidents and other functionaries of the party at Birla auditorium.
