Chandigarh: In view of possibility of rains during first week of next month, farm scientists of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, advised farmers to prepare the field for sowing of pearl millet and Guar.

The farmers could start sowing of Guar and Bajra crop with certified seed in irrigated areas when the weather is clear, they said in a release.

They further advised farmers to irrigate cotton fields as per requirement and conserve moisture in the cotton crop by intercultural operations and hoeing.

They said the farmers should apply light irrigation in nursery as per the requirement of the rice crop and start transplanting of paddy wherever irrigation water is available.

They also advised farmers to apply the light irrigation and fertilizers as per requirement for the possibilities of variable weather for vegetables and fruit plants.
