New Delhi: President Pranab Mukherjee will undertake a two-day visit to Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow on October 12-13, a statement from his office said on Wednesday.

"The President will address the 8th Convocation Ceremony of King George's Medical University on October 12 and the next day, on October 13, inaugurate the Jagran Forum organized by Dainik Jagran at Lucknow," the statement said.

Mukherjee will return to New Delhi on October 13 itself.

President's maiden tour

This will be the President’s maiden tour to Uttar Pradesh after assuming the top constitutional post. Uttar Pradesh Governor, BL Joshi, will also mark his presence on this occasion. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will preside over the concluding ceremony of the Forum.

Democracy and Development will be the key issues which will come up for discussion in the sixth conference organized by Jagran Forum. Dainik Jagran Group has been continuously organizing such events since 2005. The Forum provides a versatile platform for discussion on contemporary issues.

This is the first time when Dainik Jagran is coming up with such an event in Uttar Pradesh capital. The first conference organized by Jagran Forum in 2005 was inaugurated by the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh and was concluded by the then Vice President of India, Mr Bhairon Singh Shekhawat. The last forum was organized in the capital of Bihar, Patna, which was inaugurated by Lok Sabha Speaker, Ms Meira Kumar.
