Congress president Sonia Gandhi with her son Rahul, daughter Priyanka and son-in-law Robert Vadra remembered her husband Rajiv at his memorial ‘Vir Bhumi’ in the national capital on Wednesday.

Vice President Hamid Ansari and outgoing Prime Minister Manmohan Singh also offered flowers at his memorial.
    
'Shanti Mantra' was recited on the occasion as youths holding the tricolour circumambulated the memorial. A number of young children also offered floral tributes at the memorial.

Senior Congress leaders Sushilkumar Shinde, P Chidambaram, Shashi Tharoor and Kamal Nath also paid tributes to the former prime minister along with Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Arvinder Singh Lovely and Congress CLP leader Haroon Yusuf.
    
Prime Minister designate Narendra Modi also paid his tributes to Rajiv Gandhi on Twitter.
    
"My homage to former PM Shri Rajiv Gandhi on his death anniversary," he said in a tweet.
    
Rajiv Gandhi, who was the sixth and youngest Prime Minister of India, was assassinated on May 21, 1991 at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu during a poll campaign.
