Earlier, an Indian Air Force (IAF) plane carrying former President APJ Abdul Kalam' body arrived at the technical area of the Palam Airport here today.

"The casket containing the mortal remains of Kalam will be taken from Palam to his residence in a gun carriage," Defence Ministry spokesperson Sitanshu Kar said.

However, the public can now pay homage to Kalam from 4 pm onwards instead of earlier scheduled time of 3 pm at 10 Rajaji Marg here.

"The last rites of the late President will be held at his native place in Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu," he tweeted.

The former President died on Monday in a private hospital in Shillong after he collapsed while delivering a lecture on 'Liveable Planet' to students of the Indian Institute of Managment-Shillong.
