In his message, Mukherjee said,"On the joyous occasion of Diwali, I convey warm greetings and good wishes to all my fellow countrymen in India and around the world. Diwali represents the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. May the festival serve as a catalyst for greater unity within our country. Let us on this occasion join forces, share happiness, help the needy and engage in collective efforts to lead our nation to greater and greater glory."

President Mukherjee also urged countrymen to celebrate Diwali in a pollution free manner.

Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari also greeted people on the occasion of Diwali. In his message, Ansari said the festival of lights signifies the victory of good over evil and reaffirms our belief in the noble ideals and morals of Lord Rama's life.

"I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to the people of our country on the auspicious occasion of Deepawali, the festival of lights," said Ansari. "Celebrated with traditional fervour and zeal, Diwali signifies the victory of good over evil. May this festival bring peace, harmony, prosperity and happiness in our lives," he added.
