Mukherjee, in a message, said, "On the occasion of Eid-ul-Zuha, I extend greetings and good wishes to all my Muslim brothers and sisters in India and abroad."

"Let this festival be an occasion to share our happiness and resources with those lesser privileged, suffering and in need. May Eid-ul-Zuha bring all the communities and regions of India together in a celebration of our composite civilization."Ansari said adding that festival symbolises the spirit of sacrifice.

"I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to the people of our country on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Zuha. Eid-ul-Zuha symbolises the spirit of sacrifice, sympathy and brotherhood in society,” he said.

“The festival inspires mankind to inculcate values of truthfulness and compassion in their lives May this festival bring peace, harmony and prosperity in the nation," he added.

"Warm greetings and wishes to the Muslim community across the world on the special occasion of Eid-ul-Zuha," PM Modi said in his message on the eve of the festival.

Eid-ul-Zuha is being celebrated across the country today with gaiety and ferver.
