Mukherjee, who had taken a concious decision not to vote after becoming the head of state, went to inspect the facilities provided at the booth for voters at the President's Estate. He was impressed by the facilities, said sources close to him.
The President is a registered voter in Kolkata. "This Model Polling Booth has the following additional facilities apart from the basic minimum facilities: a display board conveying the name of location, polling station number, Assembly constituency, district, ECI symbol, National Emblem and Delhi Logo, emergency light for power back up...

"Stickers with logos of ECI on three sides of the voting compartment, furniture for polling personnel as well as in the waiting lounge, drinking water, queue manager in steel with nylon separator, first aid facility, volunteers for assisting disabled persons and senior citizens, decoration of polling station," Press Secretary to the President, Venu Rajamony, had said in a statement giving details of the facilities.
