Shillong: NCP on Sunday kick-started a campaign for the Presidential aspirant Purno A Sangma with an all faith prayer meeting at Tura in West Garo hills district.

The meeting was joined by all state NCP legislators, while the party headquarters in Shillong and all other party units in the districts of West Khasi hills, Ri Bhoi and Jaintia hills also observed similar prayer meetings.

At the meeting, NCP leaders joined Sangma's appeal for winning the contest to the top post.

On July 19, the day of the election altogether, 543 Lok Sabha and 233 Rajya Sabha MPs besides 4,120 MLAs from all over the country will vote for the new President who will take up charge on July 24.
