Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday held the previous regime responsible for the prevailing dismal power situation in the state and promised that his government was seriously working to improve the electricity generation and distribution system.

The Chief Minister said that the government would soon implement accelerated power development and reform Programme (APDRP), an official press release issued here said.

The Chief Minister promised all help to private companies working in production and distribution system, the release said.

In this regard, he promised all possible help to 'Torrent Power', which is looking after power distribution in Agra and also directed that the company get the distribution in Kanpur as a test case.

On the purchase of poor quality transformers by the previous government, the Chief Minister said that strict action would be taken against individuals and companies responsible for it.
