So, the price reduction will price the Ford Aspire 1.2-litre petrol sedan between Rs. 5.28 lakh and Rs. 6.8 lakh. The price slash beginning Rs. 25,000 going all the way up to Rs. 91,000 is made available on both petrol and diesel variants. So, the diesel trims that are receiving a price slash are now priced Rs. 6.37 lakh to Rs. 7.89 lakh.

Similarly, the Ford Figo hatchback, powered by the 1.2-litre motor, gets a price cut of Rs. 29,000 to Rs. 30,000 for the top-spec variants. So, the hatchback will be priced between Rs. 4.54 lakh and Rs. 6.29 lakh. On the other hand, the diesel models of the Figo get a higher price cut of Rs. 50,000 and so will be priced between Rs. 5.63 lakh and Rs. 7.18 lakh (all above prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).

Announced August 9, 2016, the price cuts become operative immediately. Anurag Mehrotra, Ford India Executive Director (Marketing, Sales and Service), said: "With the realignment of prices, Figo and Aspire are even more compelling for customers. The realignment also enhances the accessibility of these outstanding products, which offer segment-first safety features and class-leading technologies."

Ford’s price slash has been consistently in conjunction with the Maruti’s and Hyundai’s plans. The American carmaker slashed prices up to Rs. 1.12 lakh of the Ford EcoSport, within a couple of days after the launch of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza in March this year. Similarly, this price slash coincides with the Maruti’s and Hyundai’s announcements of price hikes to the tune of Rs. 20,000. Ford India hopes that these steep price cuts, against the price hike by market leaders, will work in its favor to drive higher sales volumes.
