Ranchi: Terrified over the incidents of kidnapping of school teachers in the area, the teachers of primary schools in rural areas of Latehar district are not attending schools and have demanded security from the local administration.

Akhil Jharkhand Prathmik Shikshak Sangh president, Arvind Kumar and General Secretary Rammurti Thakur have shot a joint letter to the Chief Secretary, DGP, Education Secretary and the local administration, demanding security to the teachers as they are living under constant life threat, especially after the two consecutive incidents of kidnapping in the past three months.

On September 22 and July 27, two teachers from Latihar district, Jyoti Kamal Anjani and Carlos Toppo were kidnapped and released only after a ransom was given by their families.

The teachers have warned the administration that if adequate security is not provided to them, they would go on a state-wide strike.

The teacher’s association claims that curriculum in 93 schools in Latehar district is suffering as teachers are not attending schools.
