Kolkata: In what may seem as an effort to placate the Left party, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh assured the delegation of raising the issue of additional fund allocation to West Bengal in the National Development Council (NDC) meeting.

The Prime Minister further stated that he will try to renew his outlook towards the Centre- state relations.

In a meeting with the PM, six-member delegation of the Left led by Suryakant Mishra submitted an eight point memorandum. The delegation also discussed about its cooperation and contribution in the development of West Bengal.

“Earlier, the Left had taken initiatives in extending its support to the state government in regards to the development of the state, but there was no response from the ruling party,” Mishra said.

Later, Mishra told reporters that the Prime Minister assured that he will consider reviewing the Centre-state relations as well as look into the matter of granting additional fund to the state in the next meeting of the NDC.
