Ambala: In a major relief to the commuters in the state, the Haryana government has decided to give them concession in bus fares while travelling in private buses as provided in the services of Haryana Roadways.

As per the new decision, all buses running under the permit of the state transport department would be given a list of concession rates fixed for travelers under different categories.

Apart from this, these buses would take round on roads as per the time table of Haryana Roadways.

In case of disobedience of these rules proper action would be taken against the permit holding private buses.

In the buses of Haryana Roadways, commuters get concession to the tune of 50, 75 or 100 percent as per their category.

Following the same, private buses would have to allow free travelling to one person accompanying a blind passenger. The same provision is for freedom fighters too.

Widows of freedom fighters would be given free bus passes. Free passes of Arjun Awardees and Veerata Puraskar Awardee of Zila Sainik Board would be acceptable in private buses. While free passes would be given to mentally disabled people, physically challenged people would be given concession in charges.

Apart from this, village watchmen would be able to make free trips to the District headquarter on some occasions. Older women having the identity card of Social Welfare Department will have to pay only half of the bus fare.

Private buses would have to give free service to women travelling on the day of Raksha Bandhan.

The rule extension also covers student pass of Haryana Roadways effective in private buses. The buses would also issue their own passes.
