New Delhi: Responding to the call of the Central government to take some affirmative action for supporting the disabled, the corporate sector has stepped in to provide job opportunity for the differently-abled people.

The industry body PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry has organised a job fair here for the disabled people starting on Wednesday, where 20 private companies and 400 disabled job seekers are participating.

The job fair would provide a common platform for the employers and the physically challenged and will give them an excellent opportunity to avail a job in the private sector.

The fair was inaugurated by Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Mukul Wasnik.

Wasnik said, “Although government provides 3 percent reservation in government jobs for the disabled people but looking at their number , the corporate sector has a role to play.”

“This is an occasion for the corporate firms to show their commitment towards social inclusiveness by recruiting differently-abled people,” he added.
