With Rahul Gandhi facing the heat from BJP's Smriti Irani and AAP's Kumar Vishwas, Priyanka told election meetings here that her family had abiding links with the Amethi Lok Sabha constituency.

"Rahul understands that people are the final arbiter. I know he sincerely works for you," she said.

Without taking names, she added, "Different candidates come to your area, different types of campaigning takes place and a lot of criticism takes place. They come here because it is Rahul's constituency and not to work.”

Priyanka insisted that no other party would be able to bring about development in Amethi as none of them will come to power nationally or even in Uttar Pradesh.

"The other candidates who come here have no capacity to bring about development. If someone else were to win from here, they can just use Rs 5 crore from the MP fund...,” said Priyanka.

“With that money, they can only build five kilometres of roads at one time,” she added.

Wednesday was the second consecutive day of Priyanka’s campaigning in Amethi from where Rahul Gandhi has been elected to the Lok Sabha twice.

Aam Aadmi Party's candidate, Kumar Vishwas, has been furiously campaigning against Rahul Gandhi for several weeks.

The BJP has fielded Smriti Irani, a popular actor-turned-politician, in Amethi.

Amethi votes on May 7.
