New Delhi: Taking note of major row over the appointment of former Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) PJ Thomas, Central government has decided to make some amendments in the procedure of placing next CVC.

For new CVC’s appointment next month, Ministry of Personnel and Training has asked for the nomination of candidates from all other ministries.

Alka Sarohi, Secretary of Ministry of Personnel and Training, said, “We have formally written to all the ministries and invited several candidates for the post.” She added new guidelines have been issued after receiving directions from the Supreme Court.

According to sources, PMO has already issued guidelines as per the Supreme Court instructions. They further elaborated that new guidelines will include a detailed review of the yearly secret report of the selected ministers. Besides, a nod from CBI and IB will also be needed for the candidate’s selection.

The high level committee for the selection of the new CVC includes Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Home Minister P Chidambaram and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj.
