Chandigarh: Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia on Saturday asked company secretaries to prepare business models in which profits and social welfare "go hand in hand".

He was addressing company secretaries in inaugural session of a conference 'Emerging Opportunities for Professionals- Present Economic Scenario', here.

Company secretaries play a crucial role with respect to both statutory and voluntary aspects of social responsibility and they should ensure that corporate values and social values never come in conflict, he said.

He added that they should benchmark their competencies at regular intervals so as to place themselves in the current scenario and to take effective steps to sustain their growth and performance.

Pahadia said they must have courage, vision and necessary sophistication in their attitudes in order to grab the vast and multiple opportunities.
