New Delhi: Here’s a piece of good news for the railway passengers as they can now keep  track on the location of the desired train, the platform it will arrive and the position of their confirmed coach with just one click of the mouse.

In a combined effort by the RDSO, Lucknow and Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT-K) each and every single detail about the trains will be made available on the website and mobile to make journey less troublesome for passengers.

With the help of ‘Simran Project’ (Satellite imaging of the rail navigation), almost all trains running on the Indian railways can be tracked. Their location, speed, arrival and departure can be easily found.

The first phase of the pilot project has been implemented on six trains. It includes Delhi-Howrah Rajdhani, New Delhi-Sealdah Rajdhani, Mumbai-Delhi Rajdhani, Mumbai-Nizamuddin Rajdhani, Delhi-Lucknow Shatabdi Express.

Within next six months nearly 80 percent of the trains will be come under this project while remaining trains will be gradually included.

In the Economic Editor’s Conference, IIT-K Director Sanjay Dhande apprised about the features of the projects. Through live display, Dhande showed the location of Lucknow-Kanpur Shatabdi and informed that train was running at 129 km per hour.
