Chandigarh: Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal held a long meeting with India’s renowned business houses in New Delhi with a purpose to ensure an investment of Rs 1 lakh crore in the state for its industrial development.

Being an in-charge of investment promotion department, Deputy Chief Minister Badal said in the meeting “after the qualitative improvements in the administration, now his main focus is on industrialization of the state as it will not only create the employment opportunities for youths but will also promote the economic development in the state.”

The meeting was held at Kapurthala house in which Malvinder Singh of Fortis Healthcare, Sunil Kant Munjal of Hero group, Gautam Thapar of Ballarpur group, Kamal Oswal of Nahar group, Rajiv Singh and Mohit Gujral of DLF group, Rakesh Bharti Mittal of Bharti Airtel group, Neeraj Saluja of SEL manufacturing, Manoj Gaur of JP group, Rajinder Gupta of Trident group and Ashok Nambiar of Raunak enterprises, Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Gujral, Chief Executive Rakesh Singh attended the meeting.

It was decided in a meeting to establish industrial clusters and two modern cities along with promoting Amritsar as the international tourist centre. Badal further emphasized on developing a smart city for promoting technical skills among the youths and giving priority to establish medicity and educity in Greater Mohali area.

A steering committee was also set up in the meeting to improve the basic infrastructure of the main cities in which six representatives from both the government and industrialist side will be included.

A decision has been taken in the meeting that Sukhbir Singh Badal will lead the Industrialist representatives who will visit Pakistan in August to find out the opportunities for trading with neighbouring countries.
