New Delhi: Irked by veteran BJP leader LK Advani’s decision to skip the party’s National Executive meet, an apparent gesture to express opposition to Narendra Modi’s ascension as  the BJP’s campaign committee chief, several activists on Saturday protested outside the residence of party patriarch in the national capital.

Protestors also shouted slogans in Modi’s favour praising him as the mass leader. Reacting quickly to the protest, BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said,” Those who have gathered outside Advaniji's house have no connection with the BJP.”

85-year-old Advani has cited ‘ill health’ as the reason for not attending the BJP National Executive meeting in Panaji.

The National Executive meeting is expected to discuss Modi's role in the general elections which is due to be held in mid 2014.
