The mob attacked the office of Dainik Jagran at around 8 pm on Wednesday evening and it has been learnt that the police officials remained mute spectator and did nothing to calm off the flared tempers.

The protestors vented their anger on the offices of Dainik Jagran and iNext and also destroyed vehicles which were parked there. The pro-reservation mob had announced taking out a candle light procession and the administration failed to do any concrete measure in stopping the rally getting violent.

Following the incident IG Alok Sharma, District Magistrate Rajshekhar and SSP Umesh Chand Srivastava reached Dainik Jagran office and assured taking appropriate action. What sounds baffling is, though the protestors had already made their intent clear of attacking Dainik Jagran office, the administration took no preventive measure. Around 16 people involved in the protests have been arrested so far, police said.
