Lucknow: Protesting the support of SP-BSP to the Congress in PAC meeting over 2G spectrum scam, Bhartiya Janata Party workers sustained injuries in a clash with police here on Friday.  The protest march was led by state party president Surya Pratap Shahi who is also said to be injured. 

When the protestors took out march, police tried to intercept them. According to sources, the police had put up barricades on the road in front of the GPO to prevent the BJP procession from moving towards Raj Bhawan.

The BJP functionaries, however, tried to force their way, which snowballed into a severe clash with the police. According to sources, the police opened water cannon to disperse them.

The police resorted to lathicharge when situation spun out of control. The BJP workers are reported to have sustained serious injuries in the clashes. More than 100 party workers along with Surya Pratap Shahi were arrested.
