New Delhi: A three-storey building in Pune’s red light area Budhwar Peth caught fire, police said. The fire broke out in one of the rooms on the third floor around where 20 women lived. One of the women rushed downstairs and raised an alarm for help.

Fire brigade officials said that the fire may have started after an oil lamp kept near an idol fell down and clothes and other goods caught fire. The police and firemen rushed to the spot on receiving the information.

Three fire tenders and four water tankers were pressed into service to douse the fire.
