Chandigarh: Punjab government has allotted 50 acre of land to the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) free of cost for setting up of a state-of-the-art cancer hospital in the Medi-city being developed at Mullanpur in Mohali district.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, an official release said.

The hospital will be set up on the lines of Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital in Mumbai and the DAE intended to initiate work on the site immediately.

GMADA also cleared the proposal for setting up of an 'Expo Centre' on 60 acre land in the knowledge park at Mohali.
