In a statement here, Sharma thanked the Prime Minister for recognising Punjab's plight in his speech in Sunday's radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat' and assured that the party's state unit would do all in its power to create awareness among public and join Centre's hand in eradicating the menace.

"The PM has rightly said that it's not a menace but it's a terrorism of drugs. On sidelines of the efforts put in by the government to end this menace, it has become a duty of the society has well to raise voice against this terrorism... Punjab BJP would do this awareness to bring all the society on one forum in this fight," he said.

He also exhorted statement by the Prime Minister that in a border state like Punjab, the issue becomes more significant as enemies are resorting to spread the drugs to ruin our generation.

"Modi ji has rightly said that involvement of drug trade is not less than any sin as it, besides ruining our generations, provides strength to the forces working against our country. The existence of such forces cannot be compromised at all. Under the leadership of Modi ji, our party would not let that happen anymore in Punjab," he said.
