New Delhi: A delegation of Congress leaders from Punjab on Friday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and sought his intervention in "restoring" law and order situation in the state.

Alleging the failure of Akali-BJP regime in providing security to the people in the state, the delegation led by MP Ravneet Singh Bittu "requested the Prime Minister to use his good offices in restoring normalcy in the state."

The delegation comprising Punjab MLAs Gurkirat Singh and Navtej Singh Cheema alleged that "anti-social elements are enjoying patronage of ruling Akali-BJP dispensation."

Citing various cases of murder including that of a Punjab Police ASI in Amritsar, they said, "Let alone the common man even cops in the state are not safe."
