Chandigarh: Elaborating upon the sound emergency medical arrangements in the state, the Punjab government on Thursday informed the Punjab & Haryana High Court that the state administration has 240 ambulances with high-tech facilities to provide patients with immediate medical treatment.

Filing an affidavit after the direction of the High Court, the Punjab administration highlighted that all the ambulances have well-trained staffs. Besides this all the ambulances have been equipped with all forms of life-saving machines in a bid to provide immediate medical treatment to the patients.

Underlining the facility of Global Positioning System (GPS) installed in every ambulance, the state informed the High Court that the ambulances will be deployed between every 20 and 30 kms across the state so that emergency services could be provided within 10 minutes.
While hearing a petition filed by Panchkula based non-government organisation, the High Court had asked the Punjab government to submit a detailed report on the condition of emergency and medical facilities in the state.
