Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday dismissed a PIL seeking stay on the polls results, slated for announcement on Tuesday.

The court has also imposed a fine Rs 10,000 on the petitioner advocate Jaskiran Singh.

The petitioner had stated that the recently concluded assembly elections were not organized according to the democratic rules. According to petition, he had filed an RTI seeking details about the quantity of seized liquors and use of money during the election campaigns.

However, the court rejected his petition by terming it ‘baseless’.

Counting of votes in the state will begin at 8 am on Tuesday across alongwith the counting in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa.
