Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Monday called upon industrialists and entrepreneurs to set up their ventures in the state to boost industrialisation.
He assured them all possible help and support to turn Punjab as a front runner state on the country's industrial map.
Badal was addressing an Investment Promotion Summit on 'Punjab Calling Getting Growth Back: Government-Industry Partnership for Building Sustainable Tomorrow' organised by Assocham in collaboration with the Punjab government here.
"Punjab is indeed the most peaceful state in the country where communal harmony and amity are the most redeeming factor to woo investors," Badal added.
Despite several states are facing law and order problem, labour unrest, Punjab has been a peaceful state, he said. Punjab has an excellent infrastructure network coupled with industrial peace and skilled labour which has made the state as the most preferred investment destination as per World Bank study, Badal said.
Dwelling upon the steps being taken by the state government to provide fillip to the industry, Badal said the state's existing industrial policy would be fine tuned according to the needs of the industry while eliciting inputs from industry outfits like to attract more investments.
However, Badal said it was a high time for state's agrarian economy to switch over in the mode of industrialisation as agro-processing units have a vast scope in Punjab.
He mentioned industrial sector in Punjab has 31.69 percent share in GSDP and grew at 8.46 percent in the year 2011-12. Badal claimed that Punjab would be power surplus state in next one and half year.
