Chandigarh: The Mahila Congress unit of Punjab on Thursday demanded that law makers should immediately amend laws to provide capital punishment for rapists.

Showing solidarity with the Delhi gangrape victim, Dr Malti Thapar, President Mahila Congress Punjab, held a peace march from Punjab Congress Bhawan to PGI roundabout with Mahila Congress activists from across the state. Dr Thapar sat on peaceful protest at the PGI roundabout praying for the early recovery of the victim.
    
Addressing the media after the peaceful protest, Dr Thapar demanded that the law makers should immediately amend laws to provide capital punishment for such criminals, all states should immediately set up fast track courts, which should not provide for any adjournments, but should deal with such cases on day to day basis, criminals accused of rape should not be provided any bail under any circumstances.

Besides, she said all property belonging to such criminals should be forfeited and provided as relief to the rape victims, examples should be made of these hooligans where they should be publicly whipped and then hanged.
