Amritsar: In order to free the youth caught in the quagmire of liquor drinking, Dainik Jagran has taken initiative that woke up the Punjab government from deep slumber. The government has decided to constitute a task force to curb liquor drinking among the youth.

The state government has sanctioned Rs 65 lakh to the Punjab police for running anti-alcohol campaign.

Sting operations carried out in various districts of the state exposed the deep penetration of illegal drug dealers in the society.

In a meeting of police officials held in Chandigarh, a strategy was chalked out to checkmate youth’s indulgence in liquor.

Varinder Kumar, Inspector General, Anti-narcotics Task Force said, “Selective police personnel will be involved in the task force made for all districts. The campaign will be launched in three phases. First of all we will make young people abstain from alcohol which will decrease the demand of liquor in the state.”
