Bhatinda: Rising up to the take on the challenge of drug trafficking in the state head on, the Punjab police have devised a strategy to conduct massive raid on shopkeepers selling drug apart from cordoning off the link roads.

The administration will also seek help from various social service organizations to get rid of this menace.

Earlier, Jagran has waged campaign “Nasa …. Surur Bana Nasur”, aimed at eradication of drug abuse in the state, where drug addiction, especially among youth, has become one of the major challenges before the state and the civil society.

Bhatinda SSP Sukhchain Singh confirmed that the police department has issued directions to all the police stations under which bordering villages fall.
The Punjab Police in its investigation has learnt that drugs like Opium and Bhukki are being smuggled into the state from Rajasthan. The Dabvali of Haryana has become a hub of drug peddling.

A series of investigative reporting by Jagran have also revealed similar developments in the area.

Parminder Singh, DSP, Talvandi Sabo said, “The retail shops in the villages sharing border with Rajasthan are selling drug.”

Prominent people in the area have been asked to give information in this regard.
