Chandigarh: The state government has reconstituted Punjab State Border Area Advisory Council for the overall development of border areas.

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal will be the chairman of this council, whereas deputy chief minister, MPs, MLAs and principal secretaries of different departments will be inducted as members, an official spokesman said in Chandigarh.

This council would advice the government in drawing up schemes and programs for the development of border areas, the spokesman said.

It would also undertake area planning of border areas to ensure integrated and all-round development, he said.
