Patiala: Punjab State Power Corporation employees inspected the electricity meters installed at the Moti Bagh Palace here, the residence of state Congress chief Amarinder Singh and his wife Preneet Kaur, a Union Minister.

Confirming this, Power Corporation Limited Director (Distribution) Arun Verma said "a team was sent to check the power load of the Moti Bagh Palace yesterday."

This was done following a media report that some of the power meters installed at the palace were not functioning properly, he said.

Verma refused to divulge any information about the inspection saying he would comment only after receiving a report in this regard.

A team of the Corporation's Enforcement wing went to the palace today but was not allowed to enter by the staff who said both Amarinder and Preneet were not present.

An Amarinder’s spokesman said the media report about tampering of the meters was baseless.
