Sangrur: Punjab Finance Minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa on Friday said the state is taking various steps including curtailing administrative expenses and tightening of noose against tax evaders, to generate more revenue to the state exchequer.

The minister said that he would demand economic package for Punjab for being a border state, during a scheduled meeting with Planning Commission officials on June 14 in New Delhi in order to bring Punjab farmers out of debt-trap. He was speaking to reporters here.
Punjab government has been claiming the farmers have been reeling under the debt trap of over Rs 30,000 crore.

Admitting delay in payment of salaries to teachers working under local bodies, Dhindsa said their salaries have been cleared.
