Patiala: Drubbed in the Punjab assembly elections, the Congress workers are now holding state unit president Captain Amarinder Singh responsible for the defeat and have demanded his resignation.

Protesting against Amarinder Singh, the Congress workers on Friday carried out demonstration and raised slogans, 'Captain Bhagao, Congress Bachao' (Remove Captain to save the Congress). During the protest, the Congress workers made remarks against the unit president.

The former leader of the district Congress committee Sant Singh Ghaggha said, “Captain is only responsible for party's defeat in the state assembly elections. Owing to his flawed policies deserving candidates were not fielded who could have won the seats."

Demanding his resignation, Ghaggha said," Presently, the party is not in safe hands. He must tender his resignation after the defeat." He also said to hold state wide demonstration against Amarinder.
