Delhi: The Delhi Government’s effort to make outer ring road and GT Karnal road hassle free seems to be withering due to heavy traffic load on the stretch.

The Public Works Department (PWD) had constructed flyover worth Rs 200 crore on outer Delhi’s Mukarba Chowk to get rid of traffic jams.

Following which, the PWD had chalked out a plan to construct two clover-leaves at GT Karnal road and an elevated road at the outer ring road to provide respite from the long traffic holdovers. Both schemes have yet not received the approval from the concerned government agencies.
According to the proposal, two clover-leaves worth of 1.40 crore would be constructed at the National Highway-1. The advisory company has already submitted survey report to the concerned department last year in this regard.

Mukarba Chowk flyover, Project Manager PS Chauhan has presented the file before the Technical Committee of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). The drafts of the proposed schemes have already been sent to Delhi Urban Art Commission (DUAC) for approval.

Once the schemes get No Objection Certificates from these two agencies, they would be referred to the government for financial sanctions.

In order to make the outer ring road signal free, the DDA has approved the project to construct elevated road from Badli to Prashant Vihar, but DUAC has not given its nod.
