Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): The spiraling heap of dust at the quarrying sites adjacent to Maharajpur Air force station here are posing to be serious threat for the aircraft landing and taking off at the station.

Four quarrying companies have received notices from the district administration after the Air Force authorities requested the District Collector of Gwalior to regulate the quarrying activities.

There are many stone mines in Gwalior which are given on lease to private firms for quarrying purposes. However, illegal quarrying is also on rise in the area.

After the increasing urbanization in Gwalior, quarrying is emerging as serious problem in the city.
